Saguaro Cactus on Road to
Rackensack |
The Road to Rackensack alone
provides more excitement with Flora & Fauna adventure than most jeep tours in Arizona,
but what comes next truly sets this experience apart from any other. We
offer a totally unique educational sojourn into our Laboratory for Desert Ecology at
the "Rammed
Earth - Sustainable Living Studio".
Your hosts have been called 21st Century Swiss Family Robinson's.
They are
totally self-sufficient utilizing rainwater harvesting, grey-water
recycling, on demand water heating, ventless fire places and
off-grid power.
They sculpted their Studio & Casitas from
Rammed-Earth excavated right on site.
Countless hours were spent researching
environmental principles to eventually decide upon
"Rammed-Earth - The Ultimate Sustainable Building
Material ". These
eco-friendly, fire retardant structures survived a direct hit
relatively unscathed during the catastrophic Cave Creek Forest Fire
of 2005.
